The WA NA palace and the Nakore Mosque

Today, I take you to two of the less visited but one of the most interesting and must visit tourist sites in Ghana. Seeing their architecture may make you think they are alike but the interesting thing is one is the home of a chief and the other a place of worship;the Wa Na palace and the Nakore mosque. Both are situated in the upper west region, yeah the northern part of  Ghana particular the town called Wa. The  palace is the great home for the paramount chief of Wa traditional area. When you asked anyone who visited these places what comes to their mind first is their architectural beauty. Am sure you might ask yourself about the designers behind these great monuments, they are not like the French statue of liberty or the white house of the Americans but in their own right boast of their own unique design such that only few seasoned architects in the world could boast of putting up such a design. Its really magnificent and one of the few buildings I have come across in the entire stretch of land called Ghana if not the whole of West Africa. Coincidentally history says both were built in the 16th century. Their rooms are not that of modern standard, you don't expect that anyway but their ancient nature is one of the places everyone will like to be. Someone might ask what about the environment, the people, their roads?. You got no problem dear, though most of the people there prefer bicycles and motorcycles but I bet you this is a town where you could move your vehicle around easily, where you can easily purchase any good food of your choice. The people there....you got me laugh, I think they are the better of Ghanaians if not the best. But  hey be-careful the place has a weather that does not call for a jacket or a pullover, hope you see the long beautiful stretch of Savannah over there too and the next we talk I think I would send you to their game reserve particularly the hippopotamus sanctuary.
